Teaching with Our Stained-Glass Windows

A new teaching tool, unique to our church, is now available to Adult and Children’s Sunday School teachers. It provides the flexibility to design your own combination of over one hundred different Bible images and stories.

In 2014 a representative of First United Methodist Church developed a slide presentation entitled Stained Glass: Telling the Story. The presentation conveys the story of the Bible using photographs of stained-glass windows in our church. Each slide is enriched with a Bible verse appropriate to the story in the window. The slide presentation may be used for programs about the stained-glass windows themselves or as a supplement to Bible and other lessons. A PDF file of the presentation is available by clicking on the link below.

In addition to searching for biblical texts on the slides, one of the attractive features of the presentation is incorporation of descriptive words embedded in a hidden format on each slide that provides an enhanced search capability. For your convenience, the hidden descriptive search words as well as relevant words from the biblical text are available in an alphabetical list, Windows Search Word List, at the link below.

Two additional documents supplement the slide presentation and alphabetical search word list. Locations of Windows contains maps with keys to the locations of the stained-glass windows illustrated in the presentation. List of Window Slides contains the location key of each window, the scripture on each slide, and other information about the slide.
